Following the successful completion of Sugar House Island in London, Civinity takes on a new project to install ventilation and cooling systems in a new development in Riga

Civinity engineering, a subsidiary of Civinity, one of the largest building maintenance and engineering solutions groups in the Baltics, will develop and install ventilation and cooling systems for the real estate development company Vastint in the growing Magdelēnas kvartāls district in Riga.

In 2021, Civinity engineering entered the UK market by signing a contract with property developer Vastint to install the engineering systems for the new commercial buildings on Sugar House Island in East London. Following the successful completion of the work in London, the company has been entrusted with a new project being developed by Vastint – two office buildings that are phase 2 of the new Magdelēnas kvartāls district.

The new district is located on a 2.5 ha plot in the quiet part of Riga’s city centre between Antonijas, Melngaiļa and Strēlnieku streets. Upon completion of all its five phases, the district, will combine residential and commercial buildings, accommodating 300 apartments and over 20 000 sqm of office and commercial space.

The office buildings at 17 and 21 Antonijas Street are aiming for Class A energy efficiency and “Nearly Zero Emission Building” (NZEB) status. Both buildings are designed and constructed in accordance with the LEED standard and are aiming for LEED Platinum certification, confirming that they meet the highest sustainability standards.

Civinity engineering will design and install the ventilation and cooling systems in the office buildings with total leasable area 10 500 m2. The buildings are scheduled to be completed and commissioned in 2024.

According to Virgeda Jackaitė, Managing Director of Civinity, this is the fifth Civinity engineering project in cooperation with Vastint. The company’s largest projects with the real estate developer to date have been the Business Garden business centre in Vilnius and the Sugar House Island business centre in London, which is currently being completed.

“Vastint strictly follows the Group‘s design guidelines and quality standard in all countries we operate. In particular, we permit no compromises with regards to energy efficiency, fire safety and indoor climate. Engineering systems of a building play a big part in achieving these goals. Therefore, we are very happy to have signed the building contract for ventilation and cooling with Civinity, who know our requirements very well from previous experience with us. We hope our good cooperation will continue also in Riga and we will achieve excellent results together,” says Romāns Astahovs, Managing Director of Vastint Latvia.

“We are proud to contribute to Vastint’s development of new districts in European cities. It is great to see the creation of modern neighbourhoods with high sustainability and quality standards, which grow the city and create exceptional new spaces for the people who live and work there. We are ready to meet all the client’s requirements and make sure that the citizens working in the new district feel comfortable,” says Jackaitė.

Civinity is one of the largest building maintenance and engineering solutions groups in the Baltics. The company brings together more than 30 companies that maintain 10 million sqm of residential and commercial buildings and have installed several thousand engineering systems in different European cities. In 2022, the Civinity team had 1,711 employees in Lithuania, Latvia and the UK, revenues of EUR 74.158 million and EBITDA of EUR 4.121 million.
